Kamouraska. Even the name evokes a certain poetry. From the beginning of the 19th century, the place was recognized across the country as a revitalizing resort because of its water and its salty air. Almost 200 years later, things have not changed.

Kamouraska owes its reputation to its magnificent landscapes and proximity to the river, which made it one of the main vacation spots in Canada at the beginning of the 19th century. Indeed, the surveyor Joseph Bouchette declared in 1813 that it was "famous in the province for its healthy climate", while the journalist Arthur Buies affirmed "that going to salt water means going to Kamouraska" (1873 ).

Kamouraska, which has identified the local post office since 1816, takes its name from the river that flows there and comes from the Algonquin "akamaraska", "there is rush at the edge of the water", from "akan", at the water's edge, and "ayashaw"
